To make this comparison fair, we’re looking at the Honda Odyssey EX-L trim and the Toyota Sienna XLE trim. Right from the very start, the Odyssey represents a significantly better value for your money. When it comes to the drivetrain, the Odyssey has a very clear advantage. A bigger engine and more advanced transmission result in what you can see is a very sizable difference in 0-60 times. Now, we know that minivans aren’t built for drag racing, but go to merge on the highway with a vacation’s worth of people and luggage in the back and you’ll be extremely happy to have that extra power. You’ll be more comfortable thanks to the extra legroom and overall passenger volume offered by the Odyssey.
Loaded With Standard Features
A closer look at the details reveals that the Honda Odyssey is an even better value than it initially appears. It’s the standard equipment of the Odyssey that isn’t even available on the Sienna where you see a bigger difference. A couple of really good examples of this relate to the second-row seats. In the Odyssey, you’ll find Magic Slide® second row seats which can be moved back and forth as well as side to side. It allows for flexibility in seating arrangements and younger children can be positioned so that they’re easier to reach from the front seat. When it comes time to haul cargo, the second-row seats in the Odyssey can be removed, creating a huge advantage when it comes to moving bigger objects or larger quantities of cargo. The rear seat monitoring system to let you keep an eye on the kids in the back is an option in the Odyssey. It’s not available at all in the Sienna, nor is the handy tire fill assistant.
